The busy golf season has continued to take local golf by storm as the latest invitation has been received from Women’s Golf South Africa (WGSA).
Tanzania players for the first time have been invited to take part in the 2023 South African Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship.
The three-day competition is scheduled to tee off from 13-15 November this year at the Parys Golf and Country Estate in Parys, South Africa.
Queen Siraki, a Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TGU) President confirmed in Dar es Salaam on Saturday that her union has received the invitation from WGSA that they have already sent to members for consideration.
Siraki said that the event will be eligible for golfers with a maximum handicap index of 27.5.
“It is also an exceptional event as the invitation is only eligible for players 30 years of age and above at the start of the battle,” she said.
The tournament condition means that golfers who are below 30 years of age will miss the showdown.
Siraki stressed that there will also be a Senior Trophy category on which golfers 50 years of age and above at the start of the event will battle for the top honour.
