J.T. Miller is used to performing in front of 20,000 screaming fans without giving it a second thought, but stepping onto the first tee of qualifying for the 2023 U.S. Open golf tournament will be a different story for the veteran Vancouver Canucks center. Miller is one of 78 golfers entered into local qualifying at The Club at Nevillewood in Presto, Pennsylvania, on Monday. It’s a one-day, 18-hole event, with a limited number of players advancing — last year it was the top five and two alternates — to final qualifying and the chance to play their way into the Open,…

The spring season is here and it’s the perfect time for outdoor recreation. The Dearborn Hills Golf Course will reopen nine holes to the public in late spring following a two-year shutdown beginning in 2021. According to a news release, the course was forced to close when heavy storms swept through the area causing immense flooding, damage, and unplayable conditions. Further damage was also caused by logjams on the Rouge River. The course wasn’t reopened in the 2022 season to allow the grounds to recover from the flooding the year prior. When the course reopens, only the back nine holes will be…
“I told Mac that was kind of some bulls–t, so I kind of apologized there for the way that it ended,” Spieth said. As for the shot itself, Spieth, who was 4 up with four to play, told Golf Channel on-course reporter John Wood that he played it aggressively, given his situation. “I told [caddie] Michael [Greller], I think 10 feet left is the best option. Then I got down there, and went well, I’m dormie, I may as well go ahead and play a higher, fuller one and try and get it close,” Spieth described. Spieth will next face…
The dispute centered on when Thierry Pascal, the senior vice president international media for PGA Tour International, would submit to be deposed by LIV Golf attorneys. LIV had pushed for Pascal to be deposed on March 27 in London, but attorneys for the Tour argued they aren’t available on that date and pressed for the deposition to be taken in May when other depositions are scheduled to be held in London. LIV Golf balked at that timing and requested the court step in, calling Pascal a “foundational” witness to LIV’s claims of anti-competitive behavior. On Thursday, Judge Susan van Keulen…
I’ve never played an Open venue from the championship tees. I’m not even sure you can, but neither would I try. Call me crazy, but I quite like my golf and leisure time to at least offer the prospect of some fun. My driver – a TaylorMade Stealth 2 for anyone who’s wondering – isn’t the same the one Rory McIlroy is smashing around PGA Tour fairways. I’m not even sure I could get his X-flex shaft to the top of my backswing. Bryson DeChambeau once tweaked his big stick to drop the loft from 6.5 degrees to a mind-boggling 4.8. Forget Lee Trevino’s 1-iron –…

Mito Pereira is the latest TOUR player set to join Greg Norman’s LIV Golf, according to The Telegraph’s James Corrigan on Wednesday. The Chilean is expected to be announced as the latest LIV signing sometime next week. His announcement will be part of a larger unveiling of the Saudi-backed league’s 2023 roster, according to Corrigan’s report. Pereira, 27, is currently ranked No. 44 in the world. In his rookie season last year on TOUR, he was a member of the International Presidents Cup team and infamously held the PGA Championship lead before making a double-bogey on the 72nd hole to…
