Jon Rahm said after signing with LIV Golf that it was his hope that he could continue to play on both the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour. He specifically noted the Spanish Open and events in Spain on the DP World Tour. He’s also the defending champion at two of the first three PGA Tour events, The Sentry and the American Express. But it appears the PGA Tour option will be out. A player must agree to the obligations of membership, and if he can’t do so, he is ineligible for the 2024 season. That is not surprising,…

Deflation was caused by “a failure of the temporary power system and backup systems used during construction” on November 14, damaging the air-supported dome section of the 1,600-capacity venue, the…

Only five players have won the modern career grand slam: Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Gary Player, Ben Hogan and Gene Sarazen. That’s it. Tom Watson, winner of eight major titles, has won all but the PGA Championship. Likewise for Arnold Palmer. Lee Trevino won six majors, but without the green jacket, he comes up one title short of the grand slam. And without the U.S. Open to his credit, Phil Mickelson’s grand slam resume is…

Then PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan met with players at the Canadian Open in June, the mood was “tense” and “heated.” Those were Monahan’s words, and the atmosphere was understandable, given just hours earlier Monahan had announced on CNBC that the Tour was partnering with its one-time bitter rival, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which funds LIV Golf. Among the most agitated players in the room was Grayson Murray, a 29-year-old one-time Tour winner with a history of colorful antics and controversial opinions.
