The University of Wisconsin women’s golf program hosted the Badger Invitational, spanning from Sunday to Tuesday, at University Ridge Golf Course. Amongst a strong field of competitors, UW finished in second place out of 15 teams. Leading the way was true freshman Kate Brody, who has emerged as one of the top performers early on. A once-beloved municipal golf course in Stockton, California, finally has a direct path to becoming a working greenspace thanks to a plan approved recently by the city’s common council. Van Buskirk Golf Course in south Stockton has been closed since before the pandemic, and a plan to bring the space back to a park was given full approval, even though it will take some time to implement. The New Zealand superstar shot a one-under 71 on the second day at Pebble Beach to make the cut after shooting a four-over 76 on day one. With summer vacation in full swing and kids in search of outdoor activities, some local golf courses are doing their part in getting more young people on the links through a country-wide initiative. More than a dozen courses in the Waterloo region area are participating in the initiative which offers free rounds of golf for youths. “I just like the relaxing pace. British Open champion Cameron Smith sent a warning shot to his rivals after winning the LIV Golf London event at Centurion Golf Club on Sunday. Smith shot a three-under 68 to finish on 15 under, one shot ahead of American Patrick Reed and fellow Australian Marc Leishman.
