Sarnia Golf crowned their 2023 senior men’s and women’s club champions this week. Mike Hobin fired a 76 and a 70 over the two-day tournament, Monday and Tuesday, to take top spot on the men’s side. Hobin won in a playoff over John Roman, who shot 71 and 75 respectively. The senior women’s champion was Gerri Boudreau with Stableford Point totals of 42 and 47, totaling 89. Rebecca Brydges was a very close second with a score of 88 points (47, 41). Known for always helping others, the Brooke Hancock Family Resource Network has been serving citizens of Brooke and Hancock counties during times when they need help the most. But now the organization is the one seeking help from its community. The agency will be hosting its inaugural golf scramble at 10 a.m. Sept. 9 at the Mountaineer Woodview Golf Course, located at 805 Ballantyne Road, New Cumberland. PELLA—Three Central College players were named All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America.           It’s the most honorees for the Dutch men’s golf squad since three players were also cited in 2007.           Lucas Wendel (senior, Le Claire, Pleasant Valley HS) was honored for the second time. Since opening July 28, the Golf Club of Alexandria has been bustling. About 1,100 people had teed off by Thursday, according to director of golf operations Tod Windlan. Alexandria Main Street Inc., an organization dedicated to revitalizing Alexandria’s downtown district, took to the green July 29 for the golf club’s first tournament. Ingham County disc golf players can now challenge their skills at a new course in Lake Lansing Park.  Tadpole Beach is an 18-hole course that can accommodate up to 72 disc golfers playing at once, according to Ingham County Parks Ranger Zach Shaffer. He says before the course opened, there wasn’t a dedicated space for disc golfers in the neighborhood to play. “Traveling through Lake Lansing Park North—it has concrete tee pads and Chainstar Pro targets,” he said. “All holes are between 120 feet and 300 feet. LinksDAO said it has entered into an ‘exclusivity agreement’ to purchase Spey Bay Golf Course on the Moray coast between Aberdeen and Inverness. Reports suggest the 18-hole course, laid out in 1907 and designed by legendary Scottish club maker Ben Sayers, was purchased by the 5,400 member-strong collective for around $900,000 (£735,000).  Last month, The Herald reported that the course was up for sale, along with the clubhouse, former driving range building, and camping/ caravan site.
